Says loud and clear on the label that this wine is 100% Nerello Mascalese. No pinot noir. Great wine though.

Really excellent with (effectively) tasting menu at Palazzaccio in Castelbuono. Sympathetic flavours for earthy and for delicate local ingredients (porcini, fresh ricotta, maialino, even asparagus mousse).

I know it's trendy but I'm quite liking these nerello mascaleses. Medium bodied with present but not overpowering tannins, excellent acidity, deep earthy fruit core. One to have at 55-60 degrees and a decant for sure.
