Says loud and clear on the label that this wine is 100% Nerello Mascalese. No pinot noir. Great wine though.

Really excellent with (effectively) tasting menu at Palazzaccio in Castelbuono. Sympathetic flavours for earthy and for delicate local ingredients (porcini, fresh ricotta, maialino, even asparagus mousse).

Tannic edge dry cinnamon minerals prevail ---would try with Tuscan steak or spicy pizza
