Tercero
Camp 4 Vineyard Grenache Blanc
Two bottles I opened this evening. I’ve written about the ‘99 Seavey before (thankfully I have 1-2 left!)
My last of three bottles of Tercero Grenache Blanc. Fun wine if you are willing to sit with it and analyze. Very much a thinking style wine, not your typical Grenache Blanc.
Right off the bat (under screw cap) is a whiff of TDN (petrol). Normally that takes me to Alsace or Germany, but the weight here is undeniable Cali with its tropical kiss. In my opinion, Grenache Blanc normally is a bit subdued aromatically with a distinct pistachio/almond note at the finish. This is a viscous and commanding style (salted pineapple) without being flabbby before it channels that pistachio/almond vibe towards the end. Kind of a bigger version of Paso clariette Blanche. Fun to analyze. Drink up.

Jul 29th, 2016Very pale yellow golden color with interesting petrol (unexpected for GB), white peach, lanolin, mango, wet stone and spice aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied , with harmonious bright citrusy acidity and white peach, mango, apricot, and spice flavors and a lingering mineral driven finish. 14.1% alcohol. Wonderful with cracked crab! 2012 Vintage

Jan 18th, 2015The oxidative/honeyed characteristic on the nose makes this extremely interesting because the fruit & acid pop through on the palate.

Jul 12th, 2014Some petrol on the nose that reminded me of a German Riesling. Nice structure. Medium+ finish.

Nov 7th, 20152012 vintage...currently one of my favorite Grenache Blanc & really, one of my favorite whites in recent memory. Complex & creamy, yet crisp & refreshing. It's white peach & spice, white flowers and lanolin, bright lemon, slate & just a hint of petrol.
