Ripe, round gold in the glass, nice medium weight on the palate. Lychee, ripe apricot, ripe peach and a bit of earthy funk. This wine rocks at six years of age. Still displaying amazing fruit/acid balance and probably capable of a couple more years. Larry Schaffer deserves full props for beautiful Rhône varietals at nice QPR. Cheers! — 6 years ago

100% gewurztraminer for Oktoberfest! Half of the grapes were immediately pressed and cold fermented in stainless steel, the other half foot stomped left on skins overnight then pressed and fermented cold. Results in a wine with depth of texture and aromatic complexity that Larry Schafer considers his best to date. aBV 13.5%. Santa Barbara county fruit. — 8 months ago

Un tempranillo mezcla de rioja. este es mi tercero tempranillo desde rioja. espero sentirme un caballero. first scent was coke (cola) on the cork. hue is extremely dark. No clarity much turbidity in broad daylight. slight note of sweet cherry. much barrel and deep tannic tones of turbulence i find terrific. sour cherry on the tongue. Michigan Syrah! Believe this was a special [small] production wine and it was really impressive - very Old World style reminiscent of a Crozes with barnyard funk and meat and white pepper and blue/black fruit, camphor and spice and damp soil - all over the place, evolving, lighter weight but a ton of flavors, decent acidity too but bit abrupt on finish.
