2008 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia - finally got to check this beautiful Frescobaldi Super Tuscan off my bucket list. 93-97/100 pts. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc & Petit Verdot. Dark cherry, blackberry & mocha intermingling with licorice, forest floor, herb & hints of tar. Medium bodied, bold and velvety, it keeps revealing new facets in the glass & lingers on the finish long enough to really contemplate it. — 9 years ago
2012 vintage...currently one of my favorite Grenache Blanc & really, one of my favorite whites in recent memory. Complex & creamy, yet crisp & refreshing. It's white peach & spice, white flowers and lanolin, bright lemon, slate & just a hint of petrol. — 9 years ago
Slightly honeyed lemon with a touch of pith and green apple skin, mouth-watering acidity and chalky minerality & hint of spice that rounds in the finish — 9 years ago
Had the 2014...This juicy Rose' is special...its taste is as vibrant as its color, with ripe strawberry, cherry & watermelon. Small production but so worth seeking it out. — 9 years ago

Another beautiful wine (though we made the mistake of drinking it after the Super Tuscan, which made it seem over-extracted). The 2012 Caymus Special Selection 91-98/100 pts Cabernet Sauvignon. Deeply inky, viscous, voluptuous & fruit-forward Blackberry, current & creme de cassis, anise, spice, cigar box & vanilla. It's young but rich tannins should make it stunning with more time. — 9 years ago
