Nicely rich with light creaminess. Suave and mouth-coating tannins. Full body with massive mid-palate depth. Lots of sexiness in every glass!

Vertical tasting 2006-2010 of Castelbuono Sagrantino di Montefalco. Quality increases in recent vintages. 2006 and 2007 are oaky and sharp. 2008 is round and refined, 2009 very expressive, softened but deep, lively palate.

Dec 21st, 20142018 tasted Oct 2023. Black licorice and tobacco on the nose. Sour cherries on the front. Light tannic structure that fades a little on the mid palate, but it has a strong long mineral finish. The tasting room manager said this wine will not be really ready to drink for another decade. I sort of doubt it. But I’m not going to buy a bottle to find out. OK but not great.

Rich and Full Red. Mellow dark red and black fruit notes. Licorice and dark chocolate appear in the mid pallet. Time must have softened this wine, as it is elegant and rather smooth. Excellent example of this varietal. Revisited in May 2021. Outstanding!
