Tenuta Le Potazzine
Le Potazzine Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese
The 2019 Rosso di Montalcino continues to captivate with a display of dusty black cherries, roses and crushed stone. It’s soft and pliant in feel, yet there’s a core of saline-minerality that stimulates the senses, as tart red berries cascade across the palate, and sweet tannins settle in toward the close. This has evolved wonderfully in bottle over the last nine months, finishing lightly structured yet still so pleasurable today. (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022)

If only more Rosso were made to this standard. Superb!

Nov 30th, 2020Awesome Rosso di M. From the 2009 vintage, still some tannins to work on, probably good for another 2 years.

Dec 11th, 2017Le Potazzine Rosso di Montalcino is more like Brunello than Rosso. This 2008 ( seven years of age!) is a beautiful example. All of their wines are so elegant. I am fortunate to get to enjoy them often.

Dec 24th, 2014Delicious Rosso from one of the highest elevations in Montalcino. Finesse, finesse & finesse. Definitely a go to in a tough vintage.

Oct 30th, 2017The wine is fine, it’s just the overwhelming amount of sediment that is unacceptable. Even when standing up for weeks, sediment comes off the first pour. The last 1/3rd of the bottle is undrinkable. I find it irresponsible for a producer to bottle wines like these. Skurnik should be aware of what they are importing, but maybe these came off the bottom of a Botti. I bought 3 bottles from Hi Time and all were identical.

Oct 23rd, 2023Deep ruby red color with aromas of cherry, red raspberry with dark plum.
The presence of sea mist and minerals enhances the red berries and the mild tannins add structure.
