The Riserva was amazing and parallel to the normale but a couple years more youthful in the glass.

Drinking beautifully. Super high tannin and acid. Dried fruits, old world finesse. If it weren't for the color would have guessed Nebbiolo. Great wine.

So sexy, savory herbs and truffles wrapped around black and red fruit. Rich dry palate with an earthy background and great acidity.

The classics never go out of style, should be one of the top Riserva of 2010.

Sadly, we were unable to visit Il Poggione during our Tuscany trip (I may have never left). No wonder this beauty received glowing reviews: although still young, the spicy red fruit, horse saddle and oak are still elegant.
