Chianti Classico Sangiovese
The 2021 Chianti Classico, 100% Sangiovese from Radda, is sublime. Aromatic and delineated, with terrific energy, the 2021 soars out of the glass. Dark cherry fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and new leather all come alive in the glass. The 2022 spent two to three months on the skins, with about 40% whole clusters. Aging was done in a combination of vessels with the goal of building complexity in the final blend. It is an exceptional wine in every way. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2024)

Nov 15th, 2020One of the best value wines I think I’ve had, period. For under $30 this is an incredible Chianti Classico. Red fruit aromas positively leap from the glass. Tannins are definitely there but this manages to stay quite refined almost and delivers really beautiful fruit. The finish is lifting with great acid and a hint of menthol. Really delicious, need to find more.

1 person found it helpfulMar 28th, 2022The 2018 Chianti Classico is full of character. A dollop (10%) of whole clusters add striking aromatic presence to the Sangiovese fruit. Deceptive in its mid-weight style, the Classico delivers tons of punchiness and flavor intensity, with the structure to develop beautifully in bottle for many years to come. The 2018 spent a whopping two months on the skins and was aged for 18 months in stainless steel and cement. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2021)

It’s really good and shows candied dark red fruit and herbs. Wish had held a tad longer or had more to open.

Oct 17th, 2022Bright cherry fruit, medium bodied, some earth, and structured tannin. Nice acid for food, more fruit forward than other chiantis I’ve tried.
