Yoooo… what is this gem???? I’m smitten. Not what I was expecting but definitely what I needed. Soft and creamy but also wonderfully strong and rich with honeydew melon and mango? Is that mango? Some vanilla too, I think.

Fascinating with bright lemon lime citrus fruit, followed by a creamy meringue of underripe papaya. A mouthfeel reminiscent of Bordeaux Blanc. The Viognier has given this some weight.

Mar 3rd, 2019Who could resist a white from Ornellaia? Not me. They said there’s some Viognier in here with the SB and that makes sense. The exotic fruit surrounded a core of citrus and white floral elements. Nice.

The estate's 2015 Poggio alle Gazze is a very pretty, supple white to drink now and over the next few years while the orchard fruit, lime and floral notes retain a measure of brightness. The 2015 has a degree of mid-palate texture, richness and exoticism that is not typical of recent editions of this wine. Some of that may be attributable to the higher percentage of Viognier in 2015.
