Tasted blind, from magnum. Bright amber-tinged flamingo color. At first, an oxidative nose. But over the night, this showed notes of orange marmalade, rose water, quince, light honey and some caramel. Lots of energy in the glass still. This powered through the night and a last glass before departing showed this wine has a lot to give. Guessed 76 Dom Rose.

Bright strawberry and light. Fresh edges and a pretty finish. Pretty primary right now.

This is a beauty. It strikes an impeccable balance between the pure chardonnay fruit and the red bursts of fruit from the still pinot noir addition. Has developed a pleasant toasty complexity in the finish, a joy to drink.

I always enjoy Comtes and this one is no exception. The quality of the chardonnay shows here as the fruit delicate and precise while starting to show slight glimpses of development that bring some pleasant sourdough notes on the finish.

Just a few pics of the wines from last night’s monthly 4th Friday. Too many bottles to try!

There is A LOT to like here right now. Delicate aromatics of rose petal, strawberry cream and cherry tart but it turns more powerful and rich on the palate. Strawberry shortbread, red fruit skin, chalky limestone and a finish that turns slightly herbal. The structure here shows that this will be open for business for quite a while.

Beat Dook! Nice bottle to have during a great game. Very fresh even as a 20 yr old champagne.

The 2007 Comtes de Champagne Rosé is a total knock-out. Racy and exuberant in the glass, the 2007 wraps around the palate with stunning textural depth and resonance. The 15% still Pinot adds structure and persistence to a creamy, inviting Rosé Champagne that will leave readers weak at the knees. Hints of rose petal, dried cherry, cinnamon and dried flowers meld into the sublime finish. This is about as good as it gets. Wow! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2018)
