Oct 26th, 2020This is, more precisely, the Leiser Niederberg-Helden Riesling Spatlese Trocken. The first night, it seemed out of synch and angular. Night 2, it’s come together. The color is deeper gold than I expected. The nose (these are night 2 notes) features nose-tingling acids, crisp peach and Macintosh apple, and loads of shards of slate. Mouthwatering acids complement zingy bit ripe fruit. So lively and electric. I’m glad I put it back in the fridge for 24 hours.

Apr 2nd, 2016Constantly evolving in the glass and showing a vibrant bouquet with tropical fruits and lime complicated by notes of ash, crushed stone, hints of floral undergrowth and whole butter. On the palate it displayed notable weight and textural richness as ripe citrus, apple and young peach were contrasted by notes of spice and cleansing acidity. The finish was fresh with lingering herbal tones and lemon peel twang.

Jan 7th, 2016Meyer lemon, apricot and petrol notes. 13.5%. Honeyed on the nose. Hint smokey. A little too big and broad for me. Comes across more like a Pfalz version.
