Spottswoode Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

It’s only OK - almost structureless. I was hoping for life changing and it was closer to a life saver.

Loved this. So good but won’t hold forever.

2001 vintage. Nice fill. Dreamy cork. Decanted with slightly less than expected sediment and tasted after 30 mins and one hour. Maan…miss these old-styled Spottswoode Cabs before the body/power got amped up a touch. Delicate, yet substantial in their house offering ways of yore. No rush to crush. Big Napa vintage but little pomp and circumstance here. All steak if you know how to eat this properly. 10.11.26.

First time with Spottswoode and a 2000 at that. This was an…experience. First sip, I was convinced it was turned. A totally off nose. But after about 30 mins, it blew off and the wine arrived. From there, all tertiary notes, beautifully integrated. Would love to try a slightly younger bottle as this felt past its prime.

Silky smooth incredible. Wonderful classic Cabernet . Could last cellared another 5-7 years. Great color incredible fruit. Just fabulous. Loved it.

A real treat. Got it a few years past its prime but still very enjoyable. Held up well. Fruit and acidity in balance and rounded out by soft tannins and lingering baked/stewed fruits.

A lovely sweetness and freshness, resin, rosemary with oil and flowers, some dried herbs, great power, humus, that beauty of the earth. This is phenomenal. What a great bottle!!

Beautiful, a touch of tar, currant, a slight bay leaf character, gorgeous on the palate. Silky, texturally beautiful, elegant, fresh and alive, just stunning. Wow. What a wonderful start to 2026!!

Beautiful, cool damp stone, flowering chaparral, a hint of mocha, cassis, some morel mushroom/earthy character. In a great place, absolutely singing.

Beautiful, fresh, a sense of terra cotta minerality, really beautiful, in a perfect spot. Stunning. Of this estate.
