Wifey detects butter on the nose. I note cedar and cassis. On the palate, this shows drying tannins with coffee notes, and moderate sweetness. Nice, but not as presentable as previous bottles of the same vintage. Outlier?

David Sinegal who put together a team of winemaking all-stars to bring their vision to life, a blend of 93% Cab Sauv, 5% Petit Verdot & 2% Malbec, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, floral spice and some cedar. On the palate rich fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherry with notes of smoky oak, tobacco and cacao. Well balanced with acidity, nice mouthfeel with fine juicy tannins ending with fruit and earthy character. Nice will age well!

Day 3 in Napa in the books! Running a day behind on notes...Napa time runs slow AND fast!
Special wine. They are pulling fruit from below Arkenstone off Howell. Has everything Howell like in spades. It is dusty with chocolate, full of flavor from red, blue & black fruits, but has a special “mint” like Andes candy mint finish.

Having this again after almost 2 years. Much more mature now. Big black fruit. Well integrated tannins that have softened up. Nice finish. Wine drinking really well now but another couple years will let it mellow a bit more.

Sep 24th, 2021Deep ruby colored. Black fruit, cedar, Smokey oak on the nose. Blackberry, cassis, cherry, tobacco, cocoa. Nice semi dense mouthfeel. Well balanced. Softening tannins. Nice thorough finish. 30 min decant is a good place to start this one now.

Sep 16th, 2021Another nice juicy Howell mountain cab. Cassis and dark fruit. Getting some cedar, dense tannins. Dusty, med+ acidity and tannins. Well integrated overall with a nice long finish. A better overall wine than the 2015. Going to save some for tomorrow.
