Shafer' Hillside select is always a great pour regardless of vintage. I found the 2009 lacking some of the complexity in comparison to better vintages BUT it was still incredible nonetheless. I preferred the Katrina to the shafer on this occasion.

Power, elegance, balance are the first words that come to my mind. A great bottle

Drank on vacation, just incredible wine. One of the best most consistent Napa Cabs.

Inviting aromas of blackberry, cassis, black cherry, chocolate and smoke with firm tannins that will no doubt soften over years of cellar aging.

Decanted for 2 hours before we touched it

2nd sip was better than the first. As if you needed the first sip to prepare yourself for this wine

Overall great structure and solid fruit. Improved with airtime. Delicious wine.
