Seven Springs Vineyards
Eola - Amity Hills Pinot Noir
Orange-red clear color; nose has red and black cherries, strawberries, underbrush, herbs, wet used socks (in a good way:-), flower petals, and hints of oak flavours; on the palate are red fruits, medium acids, soft tannins, candy-sweets, and a faint but lasting finish. No hints of herbacious green notes observed in my last Oregon PNs. Had with Dutch cheeses and Italian charcutery and Shostakovich 2:nd piano trio played on a master recording from 1983 by the Borodin Trio.

Great way to end a long week. Nose impresses but perhaps a bit of an over promise. I'm still not an Oregon guy but this is compelling!

Feb 24th, 2017Appearance: medium bodied with garnet core and variation to salmon flesh rim
Nose: Chalky minerally damp leaves, some very light meaty notes
Taste: Very earthy notes of mushroom, forest floor, some oak touches that brighten and enhance some of the latency of red fruit. Lacks on the finish but really enjoying the balance of acidity, which is not terribly prominent but works with the minimal fruit notes.
Pairing: Lamb burger on pretzel bun with chèvre and caramelized shallots, and bacon braised Brussels sprouts
Overall, enjoying this greatly and a great pairing with the meal. It's a nice change of pace and middle ground between austere OR pinot and ripe CA pinot. Will sit on my last one for a few years but this is drinking just fine now.
