Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry with meaty spice. Full-body, balanced acidity, fine tannins ending with tobacco, cacao and espresso notes on the long finish. More time will benefit. Good value.

Reminds me of the 16 vintage. Only a shade too much on the wood treatment, but overall, they’re back. At the right price, it’s a buy.

Fairly Bretty but nice at nearly 40 years.

Smooth and mellow. Fruit is still holding but has moved away from fresh and into a more aged state. Touch of Brettanomyces but complexing not offensive. Slightly bitter finish. Good now but don’t wait much longer.

For those who don't have $80 to spend on Cakebread. Vineyards sit side-by-side and they almost share a driveway. - $41 - 93 pts

Here is my Friday's Cabernet fix.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Gorgeous fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, figs, cloves, earth, mint, oak, vanilla, leather, eucalyptus, spices, chocolates, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, leather, beef jerky, vegetables and peppercorn.

Long finish with smooth tannins and black pepper.

A Great Napa Cabernet. Very typical and enjoyable by itself or with food. Nicely balanced and complex, with nice acidity to make it interesting.

Although it is very pleasant now, it is still young, and would be much better in 2 to 5 years.

Nicely paired with a nice piece of fillet mingon and grilled vegetables. This one is just delicious.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

Been a long while since I've encountered this California, Napa Cab. Leagues more elegant & drinkable than my last acquaintance.

Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and spice. On the palate blackberry, plum and dark cherry with complex spice. Full-body wine showed balanced acidity and approachable tannins with tobacco, cacao and espresso noted on the lingering finish. More time will benefit. Good value.

This gorgeous blend of several red grapes, primarily Cabernet, is at or near the top of my list of all time favorites. It’s big, bold, elegant, gripping, complex, structured, and classy. Very underpriced at $37.

So much dark fruit left on an old wine.
