As soon as I tasted the Bush song “Glycerine” started rambling through my head. Like the song this wine has staying power and is somewhat maudlin. A mix of viscous body, overripe apricots and bitter greens. Maybe I am the bittersweet one today. I like the balance in this golden guy though.

Big, girthy wine. Almost too much, but somehow just right. The aromas are just so massive yet the acidity reigns it in. This is what standing in St. Peter’s Basilica tastes like.

Sean Thackrey is by far one of my favorite American wines/wine maker. Though clearly well made this Viognier is so ripe and concentrate that the flavors and aromas of orange are so intense that it could pass for a glass of Grand Marnier. Not really my thing.
