Thomas Haag Trocken Riesling

My last bottle of this and truly wish I had another case. Cheese rind and rich stone fruit. No slowing down for this beauty of a value at $19 on the shelf. Would kill to try another bottle in 2, 3, 5, and 7 years!

For me it simply doesn’t get much better for sub $20 on the shelf.

Pure and clean without sacrificing weight. Under ripe tropics like mango and papaya, pineapple, lime, slight petrol, and slatey minerality. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees for approximately four months. 2019 was an exceptional vintage for Germany all the way down to the entry level wines and they’re so incredibly satisfying without breaking the bank.

Scent of dried pineapple on the nose, with kafir lime on the palate, a good amount of acid, and a slight, slatey finish. 11%abv. This wine is DRY, like Sahara desert dry. I had this with spicy chicken, thinking any inherent sweetness would combat the heat... Wrong! More like adding gasoline to a fire. Bad pairing, good lesson. But I look forward to revisiting this over the next few days, as on it's own it is quite refreshing. Would like to try this with herbed chicken or something else neutral like that.

Paired with a nice Indian meal. Off dry complemented the heat and spice.

Very light and smooth

Intense acidity, totally dry. Classic petrol and pineapple scents, nice bold flavors despite its light body. Good stuff

Too sweet, nice wood aromas and slate...

Torr, krisp, mineral. Aromatiskt med syrlig släng på slutet.
