Gorgeous green-flecked color. Nose has deep lemon-lime and apple fruit and tons of clean slatey minerals. Deep on the palate, with crisp, mouthwatering fruit competing with stony minerals. Persistent acids propelling it along. At 8 years old still seem very youthful

Bought from a cellar sale- funny, I love this maker too @Erik Longabardi but I realize the trocken styled wines aren’t my thing( even though I love dry white wine). Still, a delicate affair- better on day 2.

Yas! Checking in on this badboy, so much wine at so little price, absurd QPR, glad a few are still laying around. Harmonious, electrifying acid and textural presence, without ever being to piercing. Its shed some baby fat, and this awesome candied lime and crushed salt note is taking over. Cool and citron-esque herbs are abundant; verbena, citronella, and lime blossoms. Utterly refreshing and delicious 😋

From mature stands of vines, largely in the Stromberg, this was harvested around a week ahead of the corresponding Grosses Gewächs. Crushed stone is suggested already on the nose, along with pit-tinged peach and zesty grapefruit. The palpably dense palate displays strong piquancy and palpable stone suffusion to complement its rich, generously-juicy fruit. The bright finish, in typical Schäfer-Fröhlich fashion, really gets a purchase on the salivary glands. (David Schildknecht, Vinous, April 2019)

I had a visceral reaction to this wine when I took my first sip. My 88-year-old tea-totaling, religiously conservative grandfather was in the room and I couldn't help but blurt out, "That is so fucking delicious." Luckily he's hard of hearing. This Riesling is thirst-wine at its very finest. Riveting texture and acid, with a perfect combination of lush stone-and-citrus fruit and crunchy, salty savory-ness. There's not quite the size obligation and ambition of a GG, but this is about as serious as "unserious" wine can get. I can't remember a better $20 white wine. Buy a case and drink from now until whenever.

Smoky, savory with intense saline minerality and ripe stone fruit. Acidity provides a massive, mouthwatering burst of fruit, rocks and smoke on the palate. This is simply stunning juice and perfect on this 92-degree day.

You know in Pulp Fiction, when Ms. Mia Wallace is doing whatever illicit drug she's doing in the bathroom, and then says, "I said God damn!" -- well, this is my Ms. Mia Wallace moment. From the Nahe, this is the 2015 Schafer-Frohlich Riesling Vulkangestein Trocken. Coming from 30-40 year old vines in Felsenberg and Stromberg, the Estate's volcanic soil grand crus. For me, this encapsulates everything 2015 was meant to be... gorgeous, lush fruit, rocking acidity, beautiful balance, vivid aromatics, and laser-beam precision and tension. Damn. This is total prima ballerina dancing on your tongue. Nose/palate: lemon blossoms, orange blossoms, grapefruit, kiwi, passionfruit, so lively, and in-your-face minerality. Brilliant.

Out performs on so many levels for the price. Super saline, crumbly texture, luscious stone fruit and ripe citrus character, and refreshing as hell. Hits all the markers for a fantastic bottle of wine. Superb.
