A single vintage unusually for Fraser. Obviously the product of old Vine fruit. Colour is a deep Ruby - call it black. Black and blue fruits. Such a rich, sumptuous sweet and full bodied robust wine - profound intensity of flavour with silky tannins. Definitely not hangover inducing and thoroughly enjoyable like every Sami Odi wine I’ve ever had. The first of 3.

Complex, but so easy drinking
2nd of 6 bottles
Let's see how quickly they go
Very few other wines out of the Barossa Valley give me this pleasure

First bottle of 6

I quote Fraser description here:

Our prime cask selection from DW-OLD (planted between 1888-1912), ER-27 (planted 1927) & DW-95VSP (planted 1995).

These 24 Burgundian Pièces were gently assembled and bottled amid the spring of 2023 after enduring a 76 week elevage. Bottles were filled without filtration, fining or sparging (the removal of naturally occurring oxygen & C02) and all transfers were completed via gravity prior to bottling.

This wine is begging for a few more months rest and will then cellar for as long as your taste desires. It adores air and will continue to unfurl over many days if kept in cool conditions.

Yields ranged between 35 & 51 hectolitres per hectare.
6485 bottles were filled.

Then the humble me adds...

It goes without saying that it's a baby
But it is such a joy to drink this wine
Shared with a paesano that appreciated it very much.
Marvellous wine for a lovely evening

@Mark Flesher @Shay A totally agree with score and and everything else expressed - i have twelve well 11 left so I am going to wait 5-7 years

Rhonda says marinated flank steak and twice baked potatoes with grilled asparagus would compliment this wine so well

Now for Mike Rowe comments - well I can say this bad boy has some bold vibes that would make Deadpool jealous with the flexibility and the smell spends time trying to provoke childhood thoughts of the best amazing smells of mountain fruit where I grew up - the taste reaches as deep as the Grand Canyon for me after it wakes up and it takes a long time wake up but when it does 💥 💥 💥- the finish was not as long as I wanted but I bet in 5 years this wine will be at a level that is not even comparable- but and store if possible - you will be glad you did - all smiles

Black core, purple/ruby rim.
Nose is impressive and perfumed. All flavors and scents are beautifully translated into the palate. Blueberry pancakes, sultry black cherries, dark plums, salty licorice sweets (traditional Dutch ‘zoute drop’..), smoked ham, spicebox (black pepper/cloves/cardamom). Quite robust yet extremely harmonious, never overbearing. Loved the acidic silver linings and ultra ripe, powdery tannines.
Opened yesterday, way better on day 2: 93 –> 97

Tight, strict and dark upon opening. Took about an hour or so to get somewhat approachable.
Pitchblack, purple hue.
Black cherries, brambles, black olives, charcoal, ink, ground coffee, black pepper and pencil lead. Lots of soft and ripe tannines, medium acidity, mineral notes throughout the wine.
This is young, complex and restrained, but most of all: delicious!

Purple!
This is extremely youthful. Ink, mint, resin, blackberries, black pepper and kalamata olives.
Lots of tannines, which are perfectly ripe and soft, Elegant and powerful, this is so promising, but needs at least three more years in the dungeon. Or 24hr in the decanter.
Truly beautiful, pure and graceful.

Glad I have been saving these. Keep improving each year and the curve continues upward.
