Ruppert-Leroy
11, 12, 13... Brut Nature Champagne Blend
Wow. This is some seriously great fizz. Walks the knife edge between secondary yeastiness and primary lemony saline briskness. Gulp worthy.

Apr 19th, 2019Intriguing wine, quite enjoyable, from a new producer to me. Rich, oxidative, wide, though not without acidity or energy.

Jan 1st, 2024Medium gold with a plethora of tiny bubbles. Orchard fruits are dominant and something else as well. That’s right, this is a natural wine and you can instantly tell. But done right because it’s so alive and wonderful, not mousy or flawed. The range of the bouquet is splendid with nutmeg and cinnamon to go with baguette and cherry notes.
The entry level bottle from this superb grower and a multi vintage wine based on a perpetual reserve going back to 2011, hence the name. Compared to other Ruppert-Leroy wines, this one is more restrained and palatable but no less fun. Made naturally, with no filtration or dosage. Such an interesting, thoughtful champagne with deep complexity. Insane that it’s an entry level.
Nice minerality and creaminess on the palate. Plenty of chalk but also ripe red cherries. Lemons and limes with green apples. Moist stone and smoke. The finish is medium long and has an extra bite of acidity. A really nice effort that’s only the tip of the iceberg from this house.
