Medium garnet color, Medium tannins, plum and perhaps stewed prunes. Nose is really delightful. Not a rounded wine - hits too few notes. Nice when cooking short ribs on a wet, rainy Friday in November.

Nice. But not going out of my way to find this wine again - not a great value. Revisiting a year later - 1/20/19 - I find the wine better integrated and am starting to enjoy it. Upped the rating to 89 but feel it will probably go higher with more age.

Possibly the first wine i ever noticed was better than other wines in its sane category. I used to order this at thevold Lanza's on Second Avenue in the nineties. Mr. Lanza was always sitting at the back table with an oxygen tank and I always had the Carbonara, which was exceptional. Then I would have probably described the Ducale Oro as layered; today I'd say supple. I suspect it used to be better but its hard to say. I'm spoiled with excellent Chianti now, but it's always nice to see an old friend.

Probably the most expensive bottle of wine ever carried at an Ingles grocery store, hence I savored the experience. šŸ˜¬šŸ˜‰ You got yer dark cherry, vanilla and sweet spices, and smooth tannins. Very easy drinking if not particularly complex or characteristic. Drink now.

Fantastic Chianti. Light but full of body and flavor.

Allow to breath for the wine to open up. Good tannins, black raspberry and dark cherry.

Enjoyable wine and typical Chianti notes. Not overly complex but a good food match for spaghetti and meatballs. Probably $15 too much.

2014 gold label. Cherry flavors with other dark fruit. Drinking very well. Ends with a leather finish.
