Blackberry, plum and cherry with floral notes on the nose. Hits the tongue with blackberry and leather, rolling to the back of the mouth in ripe plum and finishing with cherry, oak and walnut. Nice tannins, deep garnet, rich in flavor and warm in the mouth but not heavy. It’s a warm day in the fall in Tuscany.

Il Ducale 2019, red and robust with steak. The label says it is a blend, but of what varieties it does not say. It does say, en français, “moderne, intense, et fruité; une vin de caractère”. We agree.

All things considered this is great for $15. Good flavor, modest but appropriate tannins and acid with Chianti- like characteristics but mellowed. Would buy again.

Aug 19th, 2021this super Tuscan was just okay. Not bad but I’ve had better. Leather, tobacco, and cherry on the nose. So much cherry I think it came across a bit medicinal. Quite juicy, medium bodied. Not sure it could hold up to a robust meal but would be great if you’re looking for a lighter red.
