Quick pub lunch with another acidic burgundy overpriced at £65 in restaurant £41 retail with my pet hate when the restaurant says the vintage is 14/15 but only had 16 😡 this wine definitely needs food 😝 Quick notes ...

This is the best French wine I have ever had! 2013 Roux Pere and Fils : Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes. Since I am brand new to French wine, I have no idea what this is. It is light in color like a Oregon pinot noir. The bouquet is English Lavender. The initial palate is tart cherries and raspberries. The finish is quick and spicy. No oak. No tart finish! Just clean fresh and mildly dry. WOW This is amazing. This is in my opinion, a French pinot noir better than the US pinots by far.

Good Burg qualities but somehow lacking a center. Very drinkable, still.

Noteworthy pairing with red meat. Dry with good body and not too fruit forward. Needs time to unfold.

was on the thin side at first but evolved over an hour or two. last glass was heavenly- nice nose and fruit really became expressive. I would let breath in glass for a while.

Not the depth and long finish I was hoping for. But a smooth happy wine which was very enjoyable.
