Roots Run Deep Winery
Educated Guess Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon
Founded in 2005 by Mark Albrecht with promise of producing Napa wines at affordable prices, compete with $50+ wines. Had this with blind tasting of $40-$60 wines. Blend of 86% Cab Sauv, 7% a Petit Verdot & rest Merlot & Cab Franc. Dark Ruby with aromas of youthful berry fruit & pepper spice. Palate blackberry & plum with some cacao wrapped in dusty tannins. Medium+ finish ending with some toasty oak & mineral notes. An Educated Guess if this wine will age well & really compete with $50+! I don’t see it!

Aug 4th, 2020It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Here is a nice one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a wide purple /reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blueberries, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, tobacco, coffee, earth, light vegetables and light black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long pretty legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, alcohol, light vegetables, coke, earth, leather and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Napa Cabernet is very enjoyable now. Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel.
Shows nice complexity and a tangy ending.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes), when the tannins are rounded and soft.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$20.

Took two days for the beauty of this wine to arrive. Day one was tight, tannic and too early. Pair with a gorgeous, ripe brie and sit back to some Jeff Lynne and enjoy.

1 person found it helpfulDec 2nd, 2019Cut my hair and oh hell I’m Samson looking to Cali cab to be my strength and to be even more didactic I wanted quality, delicious Cab I could procure at my local grocery because in LA we don’t go out in anything more than a light drizzle. Fucking oh. Into this one. It’s solid and lush. Taste notes: goes well w classic bearnaise flavors which I stuck into a waffle but really? Make a protein of your choice and sip bearnaise on top and damn that’ll be good with a sip of cab.

1 person found it helpfulMay 6th, 2018Very bordeaux styled cabernet sauvignon from Napa. Dry, fruit forward, with gripping young tannins, plum, red/black fruit, slight anise, graphite, fennel, and spice characteristics on the nose... very complex young cabernet, but decent wine for $16..... just needs to breathe and open up quite a bit.
