A very enjoyable 21 year old Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Showing black fruits and chocolates, earth, vegetables, graphite, spices, herbs, wood, earth, peppercorn, oak, vanilla and licorice.

Full bodied and bold with firm tannins and long finish. Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show the big tannins.

Still has many years in it. Very powerful with elegance.

Delicious.

15% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Dark ruby red with small orange rim, there is a salted fish roe on the nose when just opened but it went away very quickly. I fount it very pleasant and fascinating. Plum, ripe blackberry, red cherry, herb de Provence, dried thyme, menthol and mineral. Licorice, all spice, nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom for the subtitle oak note. Rose and violet on the nose. So beautiful on the nose. Med plus tannin, med plus acidity and high alcohol. Give it couple years to reach its pick time. Very pleasant wine. Popped and poured; consumed over 5 hours. Brilliant garnet color. Initially, this was painfully primary: smelled and tasted like cherry flavored Robitussin. After an hour, it had transformed into a completely different experience. Still quite primary but the ‘Tussin was replaced with red rope licorice and red plums. After hour four, this was utterly captivating. It had gained some weight and showed an abundance of mixed forest fruits with whiffs of gym sock, and garrigue. Tannins are stiff by CdP standards and the acid makes for a rather protracted finish. This is really a stunning wine after ample air. Drink after a lengthy decant or hold until after 2020.

This wine is rather understated for a 2015 - some red berry fruit, soft Garrigue hints on the nose and a little jammy of the Palate but it needs more acidity to pop and showcase the elegant fruit one expects in 2015. A bit disappointing for this producer in this vintage

Perhaps not the most complex cdp but rich, solid dense fruit core and drinking pretty well.

You know, this was amazingly smooth and full of earthy tones with fruitiness to carry it through. Felt really underpriced, really.

Earthier, grittier, style of CDP. Sabon's wines are supremely underrated and underpriced.
