Nose is a bit shy, but reluctantly gives up scents of mahogany, spices, light spritely cherry, and gravel. Light but with nice flavors: just ripe cherry, clean, high-toned stoney minerals. Very nice acidity gives the fruit a juicy finish. Nice dinner companion and a good value.

60% Nebbiolo, 25% Barbera & 15% Croatina

Color is crazy, not of a wine only 4 years of age, translucent red, but with ruby-brown edges, indicative of a wine at likely 10-12 years of age.

Nose is lightly acidic cherry and minerals, lovely for budget Alto Piemonte.

Palate is ripe cherry and lightest hint of oak so barely noticeable. Still concentrating flavors after a recent decant, improvement expected.

Another light, advanced-colored wine from this producer that tastes way younger than it looks. Fresh roses and underbrush lead in the nose, over some nice tart cherry fruit. Intense, and intensely fresh flavors of high-toned crisp cherries and some floral and minerally notes. Great acids. You want a wine to wash down a rich Italian dinner? This is it.

A very distinctively-styled Neb. The nose suggests a very lean wine: cracked stone minerality holds sway over tart, crisp chokecherry scents. A hint of spice. In the mouth, it is lean, but surprisingly weighty and long. Austere in the best sense. Great length, purity, and acidity. Would be absolutely phenomenal with a rich beef tomato and red wine braise. Excellent value.

Nice nose of bright cherry and spices. Some hints of chestnut as well. Smells old school. Palate is juicy and rustic with good cherry fruit and freshness. Good intensity and length.

A brilliant bottle of what it is. Rough. Simple, fruity but balanced. Great with charcuterie. Nose is a bit meaty. Like Italian syrah.

So delicious. But interesting.

If you say whatever it’s a “simple “ $20 Costel Della sessia you are missing the Point. It’s a dolce vita wine. You want this. With certain foods a more expensive wine is shit. You need a rustic Delicious wine.

Lovely nuts and mild red fruit. Hints of anise and filberts. Light, lovely, well developed. Nice, subtler match for an over the top boeuf Bourguignon (carrots, mushrooms, cippolini, cognac, olé). Ty Fass Selections for a super value.

Nose is just spice and licorice. Palate is awesome. Great medium cherry with licorice and spice. Amazingly fresh and juicy. A great mid week wine. Had it with pasta and sausage and pepper sauce. Bought from Fass Selections Beautifully rustic. Got that Brambly thing going on. Just all sorts of wild berries just picked from prickly bushes. Lingering spice finish. Man this is a great example of what it wants to be. After two hours more perfumey and elegant and less rustic. Like well made st Joseph but less dark fruit and more cherry fruit. Wow.

Nutty (not eccentric, but pignoli-y), nice red berry fruit, moderate tannin, warm, juicy and nice.
