Robert Mondavi Winery
Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
A special wine not produced every vintage, BDX presents a different expression of Oakville in a Bordeaux blend of 79% Cab Sauv and 21% Cab Franc (To Kalon fruit), aged in French oak (87% new) for 27 months. Aromas of rich ripe berry fruit with oak spice and cedar notes. On the palate blackberry and cherry flavor with cacao and cedar spice, great balance and structure. Soft tannins with balanced acidity on a lingering finish ending with a tobacco earthy character. Nice!

Incredibly age-worthy juice here. Palate gives way to pepper notes and cherry. Almost a touch of eucalyptus. This is classy Napa.

May 1st, 2022Yum! This Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon offers some classic Napa Cab characteristics- juicy blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, plum, violet, and cedar, oak, vanilla, nutmeg, coconut, tobacco, and clove. It’s smooth. Tannins are strong 💪 ABV 14.5%. Finish is medium (+).

Oct 12th, 2019Medium crimson with light ruby undertones and a cherry red rim. Wonderfully aromatic nose of leather, tons of roasted oak, and tobacco. This is still a bit young to open but you won’t regret it too much. About as Oakville as you can get, it’s full bodied with a terrific combination of finesse and sheer power. Still a bit tight, this needs a good bit of time before she really opens up and reveals herself. Reminiscent of a nice Left Bank, the palate shows chocolate mousse, vanilla, mild oak, and blackberries. Quite the nice complex palate that just keeps evolving over time. Long finish with spice and cocoa. If you want a true Oakville Cab, this is it folks.
