Monster. This is one of the single blocks that make up the Monte Bello bottling. 12.5% alcohol. Cool vintage, it’s perfect for this beast, Blackberry juice, structure, wish we would have waited. Has another 20 years, incredible acid, shows some classic Ridge wood characteristics. Decant it a day before you’re going to drink it, pair with a bone-in Rib-eye, duck fat fries, bitter greens. Fatty, fatty, fatty.

So dark! Deep black raspberry aromas ring out. Dark velvety sexy smoothness on palate.

Quality and style of a six figure Napa Cult Beast. Word class old vine Petit Verdot. Worthy of the Monte Bello name!

Petit Verdot isn't my favourite variety, so big, tannic, and excessive, but here's a single-varietal bottling from a cooler California vintage. Alcohol is just 12.5%, which is astonishing for Petit Verdot. The fruits are black and ripe, without being opulent. No way anyone would guess this was Petit Verdot in a blind tasting. Drunk and enjoyed with steak and roast veg.

11 barrels produced. First ever 100% PV bottling by Ridge. Just incredible. I’ve had several bottles of this, and it pains me this was the last. An INCREDIBLE wine.

A little past peak but still a beautiful Petit Verdot. Now over 7 years old. May 2019.

Who knew there was a light, delicate side of Petit Verdot? Clocked in at about 12.5 abv, but still delivered the richness typical of the varietal, albeit in a far more elegant package.
