Still drinking extremely young. Impeccably well made wine that needs air for optimum drinking.

I think my first Monte Bello and it does not disappoint. A very charming wine with an intriguing tomato component backed up by tons of cassis - "classic" California Cab. Great structure and for me in its prime right now (from half bottle).

In a magnum format, this 2002 had very little signs of maturing but it was delicious, fresh, the crispy nose is something amazing in Montbello

The California first growth delivers the goods! This 2002 mag had so much power and cassis impact without becoming heavy- on the contrary it was super refreshing. This beat Bordeaux at its own game with Kobe Fred steak after 2 hours in the decanter.

Awesome fruit, anise, med tannins, smoothed out with some air, no decant, really flat structure in middle palate made this wine somewhat of a disappointment. Day 2, had the last glass from bottle showed better than day one oddly enough

Ridge,2002, California Monte Bello. Color- dark red purple with slight bricking. Nose鈥攄ark blue/red fruit and perfume spice-raisin and creme br没l茅e throughout with a mint scent lingering. A fantastic luscious feel in the mouth bursting of dark cherry flavors, with some earthy spices, cedar and soft coffee mocha grounds, the sweetness from the creme br没l茅e is subtlety throughout. A long finish but flavors are restrained and tannins are integrated but not totally resolved giving this wine a definite opportunity to age more. Can鈥檛 wait to try in a year or two!

2 hour decant(lots of fine sediment). A beguiling dark reddish/purple with little signs of aging. On the nose: sweet aged perfume hits the nose with creme brulee, currents, dark fruit, mint. Taste: raspberry, chocolate, earth, spice. A rich mouthfeel, nice structure, and a cherry cedar long finish. Some tannins still letting you know they are still there...early in its drinking window and ready to go for the long haul!! Nice Cali cool climate wine!

Beautiful aged wine although color does not reflect it鈥檚 aging; wine鈥攄ark purple with only remnants of aging. Sweet perfume initially on the nose 鈥攂am! With black berry fruit, wet forrest floor currants and some vanilla. Mouthful of luscious dark raspberry pencil lead with tobacco and cherry finish. Tannins are definitely present and can age for another 15-20 years.
