Ridge Vineyards
Lytton Estate Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah

Wine 2, with rack of lamb. Decanted for 6+ hours. Brambly fruit, blackberry, briar, cocoa, and oak. Plenty of tannins to work through. These wines need a ton of time to really express themselves. Definitely not a pop and pour. Holding ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19, and ‘20.
Gonna be a really fun vertical in 2030 and beyond.

Tightly wound. Great wine but needs more time in bottle or if drinking now more time out of bottle (multiple hours).

Nice powerful nose. Palate isn’t aligned - unusual for Ridge. Finishes slightly disjointed and somewhat tart.

Dec 24th, 2016Extraordinarily pronounced new American oak on the nose, but the palate of far more subtle. Oak quickly dissipates to show mulling spices, leather, rubber, peppercorn, soil, orange-crusted clove....I could go on forever. This is a fascinating wine. So glad I have 2 more bottles.
