Rhys Vineyards
Horseshoe Vineyard Syrah
We were so fortunate to have Jeff Brinkman, Rhys’ winemaker for the past 15 years, join our tasting of nine Rhys Syrahs from 2003 - 2013. Menthol, steamy. Really tough year with late rains

May 9th, 2021Imagine a great Cote Rotie, Cornas, and a Cal Syrah step into a bar. The atmosphere is all French but the ‘Mercian makes it interesting and overblown with too much density. It was spectacular, but if it were a bit more reserved, and didn’t stain my Riedel, it would have been on another level.

Sep 3rd, 2015Wow, what a nose of white peeper and lavender. Fruit present on night one, but gave way to some serious tapenade with air.
