Such a gem of a wine, this is aging wonderfully. Ample and bright red fruit, progressing alightly but vibrant still, earth, forest, mineral and sandalwood. Lengthy and complex finish. No formal notes

Needed two hours and then gorgeous, sublime and beautiful. Perfect balance of fruit, Sous bois and stunning aromatics. Supple and so different than current Pierrick style which is more modern and natural. Both great this is more classic.

Insanity on the nose. Just bonkers. Sickness. Huge spice. Huge I mean huge spice. Also super mineral and very pure. Confectionary cotton candy like aromas and tree bark. Also tea. Maybe hoisin as well. Mindblowing. Big palate and immense power but incredibly elegant. It has Grand Cru grip and intensity and it is considered the best wine at the estate. Better than Clos des Chenes. It is insanely powerful and stacked to the brim with bright fruit and mineral that has sap, and really stains the palate. I think in 2 hours this will be insane. It’s changing every minute. What a wine.

Love this singular site. Dusty cherry,
Mineral, spice, dark flowers, palate is dense and rich but firm with structure as well. Wonderful material and shows density and amplitude of 12 very well. Excellent sweetness and extraordinary concentration. Elegant despite its size and power. This has 15+ years ahead of it at least.

A wow wine and easily the top 1 or 2 wines at Chez Bouley now. Soaring aromas of cherry, cherry liquer, cherry flower, huge limestone, amazing mineral depth. Subtle hint of jam that adds to the complexity. Truly a wow nose. As it aerates it grows now complex but always with one foot in a mineral pool. Palate is extraordinary. So juicy with an unreal velvety texture and perfect balance and freshness. Huge cherry fruit that is presented on a bed of velvety tannins and then the fruit really fans out on the finish. Extraordinary. What palate presence. Amazing delineation energy and purity. Stunning.

This was a perfect accompaniment to our Thanksgiving meal, about 30-40 min in the decanter really helped a lot. Not temperamental at all. Lovely, deep and pure just-ripe red cherry and berry, gracious Volnay perfume, flowers, earth, sweet sage, blood orange and rhubarb. Palate was delicate, correct, but most importantly bright. Spine of stony minerality. Cleansing acid abound, great bottle with great people and food.

2014 Pascal Bouley 1er Cru "Grand Champ" - fleshy and big. Tree bark and earth on the nose. Very pure and sweet. Great concentration and big tannins. Obvs need age but juicy and persistent and a nice coq a vin can foil this.

Very complex nose. Intoxicating aromas. So complex. Wait, I said that already. Intense and the first one that demands age. Huge concentration and power.

Disappointing Volnay with little of the Volnay charm and femininity. Straightforward Pinot Noir with little to remark. Acceptable but not worth its price.
