Remi Gauthier
Les Rouges Terres Pinot Noir
Had like almost a 250 word review and it was deleted.
So...TLDR. rustic but charming but man does that charm go far. Like a blend of Alsatian Pinot/Coteaux de Champenois/Coulanges la Vineuse. French Obscure Pinot Appellation trifecta.

Slipping into the weekend, workday done β
, lawn mown β
and bottles chilling πΎπ§, so it's time to relax before the heat wave hits us tomorrow. πποΈ
This bottle appears more inline to our prior experiences with the 2017 iteration. Last bottle was an anomaly.
Nose has mashed black cherries & strawberries, new leather and minor anise notes. Quite Beaujolais-like.
Palate has tannic cherries, grilled fennel, under-ripe plum, wet gravel, nice acidity and a fresh/fruity quality.
A pretty good wine, I still feel the 2017 version has the edge over this 2018.

Such a great burger wine! (I had it with freshly-ground, mesquite-grilled pasture raised brisket burgers!). Zesty, sappy cherry fruit and a sandstone-like gravelly note, along with a little brambly quality. Lively and zesty in the mouth too. So good on a nice summer afternoon.

Aug 11th, 2019Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading GERSHWIN (Piano Concerto in F), GERSHWIN (Variations on βI Got Rhythm,β for piano and orchestra) and STRAVINSKY (Petrushka) with the amazing Jean-Yves Thibaude as the piano soloist on the two first works presented today. Jean-Yves is by far among our favorite pianists to grace the Koussevitzky Shed stage, so graceful, yet poignant!
Hot days call for cool wines, today there are some fun ones planned for sharing.
Similar notes from our last bottle, except tannins appear more noticeable today.
Nose is reminiscent of Passe-Tout-Grains. Very bright/aromatic fresh cherry, over-ripe strawberry and mashed green herbs.
Palate has tannic red cherry fruit, leather, flat cherry cola, herbal-mineral traits and medium finish.

Decanted ~5hrs.
Deep purple color with a nice ruby edge.
Nose is reminiscent of Passe-Tout-Grains whereas the Gamay adds a little of acidity to the mix. Very bright/aromatic fresh cherry, touch of alcohol (13% ABV), over-ripe strawberry and mashed green herbs.

This wine is from Moselle in the Lorraine region of France, tight against Germany in the northeast corner of the Country. Directly parallel and 175km drive West from Baden, Germany, whereas I believe, there are also a few winemakers doing extraordinary things with Pinot Noir, take notice. Only a total of 0.006 hectares on this plot, a very nice effort here.
Paired with duck confit, shredded atop green lentils with just a splash of cider vinegar to brighten, all great.

@Delectable Wine This is a VDF from the Moselle in France. Winemaker is Remi Gauthier. This is 100% Pinot Noir. Slamming nose. Cherry cola, big big cherries, licorice, mineral and even ripe strawberry. Super aromatic and wonderful. Unique as well. So juicy and ripen with ample lip smacking mid season cherry fruit and wonderful acidity and freshness. Terrific purity and freshness. Impressive length and so so well made.

1 person found it helpfulDec 25th, 2018Day one muted, Day two π€·π»ββοΈ tannic cherry/plum.
I'll rate and add commentary when we open another bottle. Not the same as the 2017, or at least this bottle.

Itβs charming at first, but really too light and lacking in real substance.

Nov 20th, 2021when you open this itβs deceptively gluggable. Tastes like cru Beaujolais a bit. After a half an hour the complexity shows. Purplish fruit. Some licorice. Great texture. Finish is really grippy. Lingers on the palate. The fruit is really sweet and delicious to the max. With this decent complexity a total winner. A party of 5 could easily polish off a case of this over a very happy evening. Bought from fass selections. ... there is some spritz in this that blows off after an hour. Nose is floral. Violets?
