Opened about 30min prior to service. The 2024 “Sketch” pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright stone fruit, lemon/lime pith, beeswax and wet stones. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is long with crazy salinity. This was a beautiful pairing with the toro crudo prepared with red yuzu kosho, arbequina olive oil, finger lime and basil blossom. Drink now through 2039.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2023 Sketch pours a bright, pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is youthful with beautiful notes of white and yellow flowers, lemon, passion fruit, orange zest, ocean spray, and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and saline. This was divine with raw oysters and yellowtail crudo. Drink now through 2038.

“Sketch” brought the power tonight with bright, tropical fruits: passion fruit, star fruit, lemons and metal. Our palates were lavished with acid and the salinity was the star of the show. An ever so long and refreshing finish. An elixir that gave one the feeling we were being rehydrated with each sip. An emotional wine. Probably has a couple of decades.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2022 Sketch pours a bright straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is youthful with fascination notes of white and yellow flowers, nettles, lemon, strawberry, orange pith, hot steel, wet stone, and oh the minerals! On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is so long and ever so saline. This was my first bottle of Sketch (finally!) which has been a bit of a unicorn wine for me. I’ve long had a deep respect for Raul Pérez but this wine has confirmed a special place reserved in my heart for him. They say once bitten… Drink now through 2039.

Raul Perez + scarcity (less than 150 cases) + underwater aging makes for a unique Albariño. I’m so glad @Mike R help me finally try this wine.

Tangerine x10! Aromatically, this comes across as an uber ripe Sancerre or Cali super SauvBlanc. Melon, limestone, citrus, mineral aromatically. Super nervy acidity with tangerine notes all over. Tart tropical fruits, gritty lemon/lime, white peach. Lengthy finish. Would be great with a mango chutney/mango pico over ceviche type dish. Albeit ripe, I still would have totally missed this if guessing blind.

Served just above cellar temp. Tropical explosion on the nose. Banana skin melds with pineapple and butterscotch on the palate. You also experience the typical waxy signature that the best Albariños present.
