Popped this as a counterpoint to a ‘14 Rhys Anderson Valley single vineyard (Bearwallow) enjoyed last night. Yes, not apples to apples, but close enough to have some fun. The RC is terrific on all fronts. Compared with the Rhys, however, it’s just not as stunning. The RC has more acid, seeming out of balance at this stage. A mineral element is strong. The fruit plays a distinct tune. It’s like the symphony sounds like distinct musicians as opposed to a cohesive instrument. The Rhys, conversely, felt integrated into a beautifully umami bouquet, a seamless orchestra.
