Feb 25th, 2021A very nice Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Columbia Valley. Showing cherries, currants, plums, earth, tobacco, vegetables, spices, oak and light vanilla.
Medium bodied with medium acidity.
Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
Dry on the palate and nicely balanced with a nice, soft mouthfeel.
Still very young but already enjoyable.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.
90 points.
$70.

The 2016 'CVR' is an absolutely stunning release from Quilceda Creek. It takes on instant appeal, as the nose is very pretty and perfumed with red rose petals that combine with the marvelous dark and blue fruits. The texture is outstanding with a wonderfully rich and polished mouthfeel. Delicious flavors of ripe red, dark and blue fruit combine with a touch of chocolate to envelope the palate heading into the long finish. While this is already remarkable in its youth, it should also cellar well over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2020-2032- 93

Jan 14th, 2020When compared to the ‘14, this comes across slightly brighter, and more structured. Black cherries and cream, licorice, sandalwood, and espresso leap from the glass. The palate is slightly less fruit forward than the nose, showing added notes of graphite, potpourri, dark chocolate shavings and tart currant. Silky tannins but still enough backbone for this to age nicely. In fact, while I’d pop ‘14s now, I’d hold these another 2-3yrs to get to how the ‘14s are drinking today.
