Prunotto
Mompertone Monferrato Barbera Syrah
Prunetto Mompertone 2012 from Monferrato, syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Plummy and black olives and pepper and tomato leaf abounds. Won't rip your face off but can stand up against a heavy tomato sauce.

2012 in 2016 Sept. Tasty number for incredible value. Italian reds are my weakness and this one is no different. New style Barbera with more prunes and booze than acid and cherries. Great tannin profile and good blend of rustic and new.

Sep 25th, 2016This wine is a tad acidic, let it breathe, you will be rewarded. The nose complexity is very intriguing, the mouth feel is quite light. But great on the satisfaction!

Feb 11th, 2015Monferrato DOC 2011, 14%.
Bottle tasted in November 2014.
Blend of Barbera and Syrah grapes, which was unexpected for me and very satisfactory.
Aged in wood for about 10 months, refined in the bottle, beautiful red-purple color.
Nose rich of red fruits, and hints of wood.
Full-bodied, with smooth tannins, but still fresh in the mouth.
I loved it!

Barbera and Syrah and it's DOC. Smells like Barbera on steroids, almost like a barbaresco. Mouth dominated by Syrah with a balsamic finish.

Mar 18th, 2014Medium-dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, leather, sage. Plus body, plus tannins, and plus acid - but otherwise smooth and beautifully balanced on the palate. 60% Barbera, 40% Syrah.
