Spectacular Cabernet franc to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Nice little half bottle for an appetizer before our steaks.

Monthly WTF wine group meet up.

If this was my bottle, I would have held it as this has got to be fairly fresh off the truck, but I won’t turn down Pride when it’s opened! Aromatic and intoxicating. Potpourri, peppercorn, rhubarb tart, and spice cake aromatics; tight and young even after an hour plus of air. There is a graphite, lead, black cherry tart and fig finish. Tannic. Will definitely go up a point or two.

Dark purple with an opaque rim. Bright plum, cherry and sage on the nose. Tannic and young with medium to medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is full, slightly chalky with bright plum, dark cherry, smoke, and leather. The finish is moderate with a menthol tinge.

Fragrant blackberries and currants explode from the glass even at 10 years old. A bit more muted on the palate but presents a nice balance of black and blue fruits, milk chocolate and a bit of bell pepper. Finish has some tannic grip but finishes on a savory note. Drink up if you have any left. Pride makes some of the best Cab Franc in Napa (though the CF is technically from the Sonoma side of the property).

Decant for about 45 min. Was still tight. Next day in closed decanter - expressive. Pepper, dark fruit, tobacco.
