Ponzi Vineyards
Aurora Vineyard Chardonnay

Drinking great at 10.5 years with plenty of freshness and vibrancy. Finely tuned tension between fruit, acidity, and texture ending in a long, harmonious finish.

Mar 9th, 2021Great wine but be aware that it’s still very young. Not a typical Ponzi single vineyard Chardonnay, it’s still strong, greasy, reductive aroma and flavors are reminiscent of many a modern Cote de Beaune. Powerful, complex, detailed, earthy. Decant and aerate if drinking now but better still to cellar at least another 5 years. I’m projecting it will age gracefully for 25 years or more.

Nov 15th, 20209 years old and peaking nicely. Apple pie, vanilla, cream, wildflower honey, with a straight, healthy acid-tannin backbone.

Nov 14th, 2020Compared to the 2014 which needs at least 5 years to start to reach its potential, the 2013 is mature now. Not that that’s a problem. Starts out curiously aged yet tight but fills out with aeration, taking on a rich, silky suppleness with length and complexity. If you have any 2013, enjoy now.
