Pommery
Louis Pommery Brut Methode Champenoise
A few years ago, had their debut offering from French producer Pommery, tried a new batch, which has a bit more Pinot Noir, 95% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Noir. Medium lemon color with aromas of stone fruits with a toasty nose. On the palate flavors of apple and peach flavors, soft mousse, creamy vanilla notes and good bubble flow, nice balance. Medium+ Finish ending with fruit and biscuit character. Good value.

Nov 18th, 2020Another (few days belated) write up of previously taken notes. This one was quite unique—a thing with beeriness and salinity but smoothness—there is flavor galore notes here—candied orange and pomegranate but my enjoyment of it is so texture based. Just super cool and a bit off the beaten path.

Jul 22nd, 2020Had this about a year ago, a debut offering from French producer Pommery, still tasting great. Made from 96% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Noir. Stone fruit aromas with a toasty nose. Apple and peachy flavors, soft mousse and bubble flow, nice balance. Medium length ending with a warm biscuit character. Good value.

Jun 1st, 2019Star bright straw gold with fine bubbles and persistent white mousse. Green apple tart on the nose. Echoed on the bright palate which adds a slight citrusy note. Finish is long and toasty. A wonderful and well-priced offering from the American arm of Pommery house. Enjoy with everyday fare and save the god stuff for “special” times.

Jan 1st, 2019Pommery’s American arm makes its debut in grand style! Straw gold in color. Small persistent bubbles with firm but quickly dissipating mousse. Big bosomy nose of quince and biscuits, echoed on the palate with a hint of yellow flowers on the back palate. Firm acidity (natch!) and a long, golden finish. As food-friendly as they come. I always wondered why my favorite Champagne house, Pommery, didn’t have an California offering like so many of its peers. It seem that they were just waiting to get it right. Priced to be the everyday sparkler while you serve the Brut Royal at occasions and hold your Cuvée Louise for those “special” celebrations. I used my first bottle to upscale my KFC!

Apr 16th, 2018Sonoma Valley Sparkling project of this exceptional Champagne House. 96% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Noir. Bright golden color. Aromas and flavors of ripe apples, apricots, pears, white flowers, marzipan, lemon zest and a nice hint of pastry dough. Quite fruit forward with a very soft texture. A fine and consistent bead of bubbles. Quite the crowd pleaser. Outstanding value for this quality.

Nov 30th, 2024NOSE: my first whiff was apple-juicy, but that receded … now it’s triple creme cheese, apricot, pear, mild white toast, lemon. Some minerals. Smells good!
TASTE: immediately reminiscent of champagne - toasty. Bitter almond. Less fruit than the nose for sure. I prefer more citrus, but very good. 90-91.
