TASTE: silky, bitter chocolate, tobacco, earth, savoury spice, cinnamon — fruit is black cherry and a little currant — some vanilla/banana also. Minerals. Slightly less acidity than I expected for a Brunello (though not flabby at all) — silky. Surprisingly excellent, TJ’s is on a roll — superb deal. 93.

Medium garnet hue. Aromas of cherry, earthy, licorice, mushroom, sage. Medium body, with medium tannins and plus acidity. Soft and silky on the palate. Lengthy finish. Not complex, but very balanced and easy drinking.

Not actually a Sangiovese, but a red wine blend. Licorice and cherry, dark fruit, possibly plum and berries. Very good. Tastes like a wine bar selection. Would buy again. $20 Trader Joe's

Absolutely ridiculous QPR on this #brunellodimontalcino from Trader Joe’s. Overall impressions, so much verve on the fruit set off by classic earthy-softly-spicy #sangiovese character on the palate. Rich on mouthfeel framed with firm acidity and tannins. It’s so easy to pair this wine with beef, a nice Tuscan sausage pasta, mushroom ravioli - so many possibilities.
