Grown in deep soils layered with coarse red sand, in my own winemaking experience, sandy soils yield wines with silky tannins—such is the case with this Bordeaux inspired blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. The nose is alive and vibrantly complex with spicy boysenberries and plums, dust, decomposing leaves, cypress branches and dried pen ink. And oh, yes, polished tannins aplenty, it's got tons of structure and finesse. I'd lay this down for another decade for more.

Perfect with dinner tonight. Filet, stewed Italian green beans and roasted potatoes. Full bodied with just the right amount of oak. Tons of fruit led by freshly picked blackberries with mouth watering acidity. Still young but showing excellent potential for aging. Drink 2017-2022.

Went to an Italian wine tasting and the distributor was clueless about this wine, and he was pouring a bad bottle. This wine exhibited none of the classic Bolgheri style of herb, earth, fruit, oak and spice. Rather this wine was harsh and not drinkable. Tasting Sample.
