Showed well. Have had several mediocre Aldo’s that left me befuddled.

Have this 5 hrs in the decanter. Nice color, tawny and mostly opaque. Awesome nose. Notes of red fruit, roses, English tea, some anise and some spice. Nicely balanced in the mouth. Fruit is still there, matched with nice structure to give a long finish. Should stay at this peak for the foreseeable future.

Opened and left in a decanter for 3 hours before touching it. Brownish red rims with a tawny center. Amazing perfume in the nose. Notes of ripe cherries, rose petals, afternoon tea, pepper and anise, some soy, some black dirt and a little black tar. The subtle but very present fruit is matched with some great structure in the mouth. Nicely balanced. As the evening progresses this grows even more in the glass. A textbook, well-aged Barolo in full bloom.

Tasted blind. The wine was reddish tawny in color, but a bit cloudy from the get-go (with the sponsor accepting blame for a decanting issue). It needed many hours of air in front of us to develop tell-tale old Barolo characteristics and blossom into an amazing wine. At first my description was faded fruit, some cherry and some sweetness. After ~2-4 hours of more air, it blossomed to show roses, tea, some tar and some earthy soy sauce. Great structure, with tannins resolved but still holding the fruit in place. A sweetness comes accross over time, with some soy notes that grew as the wine gobbled oxygen. The wine elevated itself thoughout the day to become WOTD for many.

Dark tawny color. Powerful nose. Notes of black plum, tea, roses, black earth and some anise. Balanced. Rounded out over 8 hours. In a great zone right now. Everything you want in a nicely aged Barolo. Give it its needed air.

Vivid and lively, with fine, fresh tannins and excellent mid-palate depth. This is a composed and stately wine of restrained power, poised to cellar for years to some.

Light ruby with light red brick rims. Very Nebbiolo in the nose with rose petal, tea, anise, pepper, tar, and a nice funky hint of dirt. Savory in the mouth with some nice cherry notes. Has shed some of its tannin but still gripping finish with lots of acidity. Long finish. Needs aeration. Needs more bottle time to age, at which time I'm sure this will improve.
