Stunning classic Brunello nose. Big saturated cherries, wet earth, some funk and minerals. Smells ripe as well. Palate is deep, structured and mineral with lovely fruit but seems to lack lift. Maybe air will sort this out.

Night 2 notes: This was quite lean and a bit austere on night 1. It started to come around with air, but it didn’t have much time to stretch out as it came in off the bench to pinch hit for a starting line-up red that was benched for being corked. On night 2, this is much more open, but it is on the lean and savory end of the spectrum. Color is quite advanced. Nose has underbrush, dried old leather, and a bit of eucalyptus. The only fruit is a hint of dried macerated cherry. Lean in the mouth, with a drying, tannic finish. Somewhat disappointing.

A beautiful bottle of Brunello. Drinking well now but the present tanins and excellent acidic balance imply at least another 5 years of life from here.
Nose is a deep cherry not super dark but almost like a cherry blackberry blend. Almost pungent but in a perfumed aromatic kind of way. Some cherry flowers as this opens.
Grippy tanins at first. Then becomes more silky. Deep cherries. Almost cherry licorice. Almost sweet fruit.
