Revisiting my dear friend 2016 Petruccino from Podere Forte and she’s drop dead gorgeous as always.
Very inviting at first with perfectly ripe round edged fruit profile but with plenty of energy, red and black cherries, licorice, opening up with dried spice, tobacco and its Tuscan gravelyness with time in the glass. Long act on the palate, driven by its fresh acidity and almost powdery tannins that walks the intense fruit profile across the palate. Remarkable integration of the 14.5% alcohol. So convincing already yet with structure for further

What a nose. Very aromatic. Blackberry. Cherry. Cherry flower. Cherry soda almost. Plum. Woody and juicy and complex. Very chewy and long. Pure and delineated with great energy. 100% Sangiovese.

A solid performance as always from ye good ol’ Petruccino and a great expression of the diversity that Sangiovese can provide. 15% alcohol by reading the label, but only a bit warming, instead it brings texture that is well encapsuled by the dense fruit profile without loosing its freshness, superbly textured tannins and a vigourating acidity is drivning the wine forward with an athletic posture. Luxurious nose where the perfectly placed oak profile is well nurtured by the suave and dense fruit over a stony and stimulating background.

Perfect fruit ripeness, strawberries, dark fruit, over a layer of crushed stones. Stunning texture, ripe and structured tannins, balanced throughout a long run finish, a dance between the wonderful fruit and mineralic texture

Wow. Great wine.

Nose is gorgeous. Cherry flower. Deep red roses. Pink roses. Incredibly sensual. A hint of lilac. A nose you can smell all day. Truly amazing. Just this rose, lilac, cherry flower amalgem. As it opens more a pure pink rose perfume. $1,000 an ounce perfume. Nose approaches a 10.

Palate is delicious. The house style silky texture. Elegant red cherries. Elegant spice. … it’s elegant. But delicious. Gorgeous and fun cherry licorice internal aromatics. Lacks the perfection of the nose else this would be higher.

Heady aromatics, bordering on bold and tilting towards the Dark Side. Lovely purity, flawless balance, brilliant oak treatment and grainy tannins; what more can you ask for? Fruit...? Yeah, it's there and great too. Classy lady!

I find that the Merlot's jammy qualities over power the Sangiovese more subtle character

Class in a bottle; a perfectly ripe and densly packed fruit profile complimented with a well played portion of exclusive oak. The palate is complete and perfectly balanced, highlighted by the trademark wonderfully structured tannins lasting through the lengthy finish. The 15% abv is barely being noticed, so beware, this one might drop your curtains sooner than you expect.
