Tonight is Saturday night and I have opened the 2015 Planeta Cerasuolo Di Vittoria - Sicilia. Made up of 60% Nero D' Avola and 40% Frappato. Have been wanting to try more wine from Sicily. I have been hearing a lot of good things coming from this area.

The nose is very aromatic with red fruit, dried strawberries, dried raspberries, cherry cola, balsamic, floral notes, spice and dried herbs.

On the palate I get red berries, wild cherry, strawberry, plum, ginger, spice, herbs and dusty soil.

This wine is medium supple bodied with medium + acidity and medium + sandy tannins that lead to a long vibrant lasting finish. Sicilian wines are showing real well and I will have to try more. The weekend is going well and I hope everyone are enjoying themselves. Stay safe continued prosperity. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

In continuance of my gracious ratings, this wine is deserving. Strongly fruit forward, almost florid, but well balanced, full-flavored dark berry. Luscious on the palate - 60% Nero D’ Avola grape of Sicily. Low tannins, no acidity…tasty, drink now…

Unique wine with dark fruits, earthy tones and well balanced acidity and tannins. Wine packs a punch.

A lighter and quite delicious red wine from Sicily. A blend of frappato and Nero d’avola, this sees no oak and is quite perfumed with red fruit. Versatile pairer and a nice finish

January 12, 3020. Tucson. Pizza dinner w/ Caitlin,Sarah, J2, Don. This Nero d’Avola (60%), Frappato blend is definitely better than most Nero d’Avolas and any frappato I’ve had. Yummy. Great w/ pizza, or alone. Medium bodied, nice complexity, old world wine.

Interesting and complex wine that combines some of the depth of the Nero d’Avola with the light drinkability of the Frappato. It evolved with time open, hitting a number of notes: fruit, funk, tannins. Ultimately though, I felt it was caught between two styles and lacked the singular identity that would take it over the top. Definitely worth a drink though.

Cherry. Raisins. Minerality. Graphite. Nice acidity. Warm soft tannins. This was bottle #2 which was a lot lighter and junior in taste versus bottle #1 which was a 2014.
