The 2012 Brunello is a very good wine A small traditional winemaker from the south east side of Montalcino This is a very good wine Well balanced but will mature superbly with ageing. A classic Brunello

2010 vintage. Medium ruby hue, very bright. Deep and alluring aromas of red plums, tomato leaf. Oak is providing smoke, sweet spice and vanilla essence. There's a slight violet note. On the palate, full bodied, high acidity - integrated, fine high tannins, pronounced concentration and long finish. Plush oak, plums and red berries, leather and dried meats. Quite a full on wine that also manages a degree of finesse. Much better effort than the unbalanced 2009.

For some reason this app insists that the 2018 is the 2013. I can’t seem to correct it. But I opened the 2018 on Nov of 2024.

Nice but not great. Lots of herbaceous scents on the nose plus a mild scent of leather. A wee bit of red fruit on the front. Medium tannic structure. Lots of lemony high notes kick in on the mid palate. hints of mint on the finish. This is a well-balanced wine, and there’s nothing objectionable about it. But it’s in no way memorable.

Lovely! 2018 opened April 2024. Delicate nose: fresh leather and a hint of sage. Bright red fruit on the front that’s balanced by mineral astringency (which is unusual on the front of the palate).Full tannic structure with a silky mouthfeel. The low notes are citrusy — i detect oranges (which is strange because I’d normally think of citrus as high on the high side of the taste spectrum). A slightly different variety of of high notes kick in before it reaches the back of the palate, but they fade on the finish leaving that wonderful silky smooth feel on the back of the throat. Not a particularl long finish, thought. I would have given it a 10 except that the finish wasn’t long enough — and I wanted more! This a unique and wonderful wine.

Balanced and elegant, pleasingly persistent. Vivacious tannins, perfect matching with mushrooms or fiorentina!
