Since 1750 the Gimonnet family have been vine growers in the village of Cuis, supplying the great Champagne houses with grapes up until the 1930's recession, when sales fell. Today the estate is run by Pierre's sons, Michel and Didier, and in 1987 acquired the house of Larmandier Père et Fils based in Cramant. Classic BdB, light and refreshing, great balance, complex with perfectly ripe fruit, bubbles and mousse. Lingering finish with bright mineral ending.

Crazy good RM Champagne. Rich, yet with laserlike focus. Nose of just-ripe yellow apple, lemon curd, crushed chalk and oyster shell, autolytic pastry dough character, some raw almonds, and a touch of star anise as well. The chalky, saline minerality, lemon curd, and autolytic character take center stage on the palate; racy and precise. Screaming acid, would probably even be best to hold onto these a bit longer. Medium body, creamy malolactic texture; lovely, fine-beaded bubbles. Dosage seems relatively low and it's all the better for it here. Couldn't help myself; had to have it with some kettle chips. This is THE wine to get if you wanna do the whole Champagne and potato chips thing.
