La Rocca Soave Classico Garganega

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three days. Consistent throughout. The 2019 “La Rocca” pours a bright, deep straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe, squishy tropical and orchard fruit: pineapple, apricot, yellow flowers, nuts, saffron and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, elegant with a silky texture. This worked wonders with homemade Runza’s. This is a significant step up from the Soave Classico. Drink now through 2034.

Brief notes. Tasted a week ago. A deep gold in colour. Notes of almonds and peach. Drinking at its peak - not much point in further cellaring. Interesting and different. See previous Delectable note.

Brief notes. Citric acid - lemon; also almonds; ripe grapefruit. If tasted blind I might have called this a Semillon. I notice in my previous tasting note about 5 years ago I likened this wine to a Chardonnay. 5 years bottle age has changed things.

La Rocca, made from 100% Garganega and aged for 15 months in large barrels. Bright lemon yellow with aromas of tropical fruits, floral, honey and oak notes, very rich and complex. On the palate flavors of pineapple, melon and lemon zest with nutty vanilla flavors and lively acidity. Smooth and elegant the wine ends with toasty oak, fruit, mineral notes and a bit of honey & spice. Nice!

Full bodied, beautiful golden color and honey aroma. Fruity and oaky, with a hint of vanilla. Paired well with vegetables, Branzino, and shrimp risotto.
